Zamalek striker Mido Cairo - Arabstoday Zamalek striker Mido vows to become fully fit for the Whites’ opening game of the new season against Wadi Degla in the Egyptian Cup next month. The 28-year-old, who is vulnerable to becoming overweight, has not played for over eight months due to the infamous registration problem that followed his winter move to Cairo. But as new manager Hassan Shehata arrived this summer, Mido has been working hard to regain his shape in pre-season. “I will be ready for the team’s first cup game against Wadi Degla on September 20,” the former Ajax forward told Zamalek’s website. “I have the experience to become physically and technically fit as soon as possible.” Mido has been far from consistent throughout the past three seasons due to fitness-related problems, which saw him have unconvincing loan spells at Wigan, West Ham, Zamalek and Ajax.
