One person has been killed and three others wounded in a shooting at a construction firm in western Japan, Japan's NHK World reported.
Police said they responded to a report from a person who heard what sounded like gunfire at the firm, Wadai Kogyo, in Wakayama City on Monday morning.
They said 4 male employees had been shot, and one of them, a 45-year-old man, had died.
Police said a man who appeared to be in his 40s or 50s fired what seemed like a handgun before fleeing the scene.
One man who was wounded told police he knew the alleged shooter by sight.
The company is located in a residential and factory area.
