Two tourists died and five others were still missing, including one Hong Kong tourist, late Thursday afternoon when a speedboat flipped on its way back to Koh Samui Island in south Thailand, local media reported.
The speedboat packed with 36 passengers and crew was returning to the popular island at 4 p.m. local time after a day trip to Angthong Island on May 26. It capsized after hitting a big wave.
Two female tourists died as they were trapped inside the capsized boat.
China's consular office in Phuket confirmed that one of the five missing tourists is from Hong Kong. Another injured Hong Kong tourist was sent back to hotel safely.
Of all the rescued tourists, 21 were injured, seven in serious condition. All were rescued by fishing boats and rescue boats of the Department of Marine.
Rescue teams have resume searching for the missing.
