Death toll in India's Temple fire rises to 100
New Delhi - Arab Today

Death toll in the tragic fire incident at a temple in India's Kerala has risen to at least 100 with more than 300 people were injured.
The fire broke out in the crowded precincts of the Puttingal temple in the coastal town of Peravoor where thousands had gathered to see the fireworks display marking a local festival.
The concrete building where the fireworks were stored came crashing down, injuring the crowds milling around it. The temple administration building near it was also destroyed.
Scores of devotees ran in panic as the massive initial blast cut off power in the complex, while other explosions sent flames and debris raining down. Many people were trapped.
India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi who visited the site of the incident said "The incident that happened today is extremely saddening. Nobody can imagine that death can come in such a manner." Meanwhile, police has registered a case against six persons, including members of temple managing committee and associates of firework contractors, on attempt to murder and other charges in connection with the Putttingal Devi temple fire tragedy.
Five persons have also been held for questioning but the police did not the reveal the identity of those booked and detained.
