Civil Defence Department CDD crews on Sunday put out a fire that broke out at a garment storage facility in Khalidiyeh, 25 kilometres south of the city of Mafraq, but no casualties were reported. Mafraq CDD Director Col. Ibrahim Hatamleh said the blaze scorched about 10 donums of land nearby before the fire squad managed to bring it under control and prevent it from spreading to other surrounding fields. He said initial indications show the blaze was a deliberate act, noting that no electricity facilities were in the vicinity. Hatamleh said an investigation is underway to identify the arsonists.
