Three suicide bombers have been killed in two foiled suicide attacks in the outskirts of the Borno State capital, Maiduguri in northeastern Nigeria leaving one civilian injured and a truck partly damaged, Nigerian police said last night.
State police spokesperson Victor Isuku said in a statement that two male suicide bombers detonated Improvised Explosive Devised (IED) strapped to their bodies near Alhaji Bukar Gujari Filling station in Muna Garage area at the entrance of Maiduguri. All the bombers died instantly without killing anybody, according to the Africanews website.
He also added that another suspected suicide bomber detonated his bomb at Dusuma village, killing himself and injuring a man who tried to stop him.
A truck was partly damaged in the first blast, Victor Isuku said.
Maiduguri has been the city worst hit by the Nigerian Boko Haram's eight-year-old campaign in northeastern Nigeria.
These attacks have killed about 15,000 people and forced more than 2 million to flee their homes.
