At least 98 militants have been killed in Turkey and northern Syria over a week, the Turkish military said Friday, according to Anadolu Agency.
The Turkish General Staff said 27 of the terrorists were killed in anti-PKK operations in the Turkish provinces of Diyarbakir, Bingol, Siirt, Mardin, Bitlis, Batman and Kars between March 2 and March 9.
In addition, 71 elements were killed in northern Syria as part of the Turkish-led Operation Euphrates Shield, according to the statement.
Since the operation began last August, the Turkish military has neutralized 3,060 ISIS militants, 462 PKK/PYD/YPG elements, killing 2,647 and 425 of them, respectively.
Turkey-led Operation Euphrates Shield began in late August through Free Syrian Army fighters backed by Turkish artillery and jets to improve security, support coalition forces, and eliminate the terror threat along the Turkish border.
