The National Palestinian Commission responsible for the report on the damage of the Annexation Wall invited the United Nations to perform a “Fatwa” to The Hague on Friday, urging world nations to use their political and legal responsibilities to force Israel to implement the legitimate international resolutions concerning the rights of the Palestinian people. Marking the seven year anniversary of the “Fatwa”, the Commission reconfirmed its commitment to working locally and internationally to fully implement the provisions of the “Fatwa” made on the 9th of July 2004 by The Hague Court, in regards to the Annexation Wall and its demolition, and the expansion of racial cessation. The Commission pointed out that they took it in their own hands to coordinate and fulfill all national efforts to guarantee the successful implementation of the decision made by the General Assembly of the United Nations to limit and record the extent of the damage caused by the Annexation Wall, which was built by the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land in 1967. The UN staff began implementing this resolution 31 months ago. The Commission called upon the Palestinian people and its institutions in villages, cities, and all communities that were affected by the building of the Wall, to head to the Commission and to record any damage it caused. This represented the starting point of the largest legally bound and internationally accepted record to protect and endorse their rights, through organized and cumulative steps, until the Wall is removed completely, with the aim of making the Israeli occupation pay for the crimes it has committed against the Palestinians. Senior Palestinian negotiator Dr. Saeb Erekat confirmed to ArabsToday that now is the time to enforce the International Law in occupied Palestine, and to remove the Wall, and the racial expansion extending onto Palestinian land. “The International Court of Justice confirmed that Israel, being the occupying power, cannot break down the rights of the Palestinian people for its own sake. The International Law called upon Israel to remove the Wall, and to compensate Palestinians who were affected by it. Despite this, however, Israel is still acting as if it is a country above the law, and the Wall is still causing damage to Palestinians.” Erekat said. He added: “the Wall represents a violation of human rights and the Palestinian apartheid, whether it is separating Palestinians from their farms or schools or anything else,” pointing out that Israel is plundering Palestinian land in order to expand its settlements at the expense of Palestinians, in a trend heading towards a racial apartheid. Palestinian Minister of State Muhammad \"Abu Maher\" Ghuneim, stressed the importance of The Hague’s decision, given that it was ruled by the highest judicial body in the world, and called upon the international community to respect and abide by this law which states: “The settlement enterprise in general, and the wall, in particular, destroys the lives of Palestinian people, and any hopes of resolving issues between Israel and Palestine.” He added that “countries abiding by the International Law should not have its individuals or institutions participate in, or support the Israeli settlement project. This is the minimum requirement necessary to create conditions conducive to the two-state solution.” Henna Issa, Professor of International Law, confirmed that the decision by The Hague refutes all Israeli lies which state that the Wall was built for “self-defence” against martyrdom operations, as the court pointed out that the Wall is a violation of International Law and an assault on Palestinian occupied territory. He noted the invalidity of Israeli calls for the exchange of land in any negotiations that took place. This was also confirmed by The Hague court’s decision, which mentioned Palestinian rights, describing the Wall as a tool for racial apartheid, and a means of gaining as much Palestinian land and property as possible. He said: “the Decision prohibits any exchange and requires world nations to work towards the removal of the Wall, condemning those who work towards the building or completion of the Wall.” He also noted that lawsuits against international companies have been put forward, yielding very good results.
