2011 Nobel Peace prize winner Tawakul Karman Sanaa - Arab Today 2011 Nobel Peace prize winner and Dialogue Committee member Tawakul Karman donated on Thursday her cash prize to the Fund for care the families of Youth revolution killed and wounded. During her meeting with President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi in the presence of the Fund's head Sarah al-Yafei, Karman hand the cash prize, $500,000, to al-Yafei. The President praised Karman's humanitarian initiative and her moral and religious loyalty to the youth revolution and change. However, Hadi said that the important in his consideration, is put an end to the Yemen's crisis and its difficult conditions as well as the success of the national dialogue. Karman said that the donation of her prize money comes in recognition of the revolution's youth who have generously made sacrifices for change and a new future based on freedom, justice and equality. The Nobel Prize Committee in Sweden announced Karman's winning of the 2011 Prize two years ago, noting that it had "chosen Karman for her struggle for the safety and rights of women as well as her participation in building and achieving peace." Karman is a well-known figure in the struggle for democracy. She made history as the first Arab woman to win a Nobel Peace Prize, as well as the first Yemeni.
