Despite her start as a presenter in Mehwar channel, Ayat Abaza considers that her work in the Egyptian state television, specifically Nile Drama channel, as her real start in her career. She added that her work in Nile Drama helped her to achieve her dreams, pointing out that she had received several offers from private channels, but she preferred to stay in the state specialized channels.
Speaking about her start in the field of media, Abaza said that she was graduated from Department of English Language in Faculty of Arts, while she had an ambition to enter Faculty of Media. After graduation, Abaza joined Mehwar channel, and then applied in the Egyptian state television where she joined Nile Drama. She said that her program “Muslslaty” hosted several Arab artists. After the 25 January revolution, the atmosphere of media did not allow drama programs.
Abaza and her team made major changes in the form and content of Muslslaty, which was changed later to “Drama Studio," by adding other issues beside drama.
Abaza pointed out that the state television presented many stars, such as Khaled Al Sawi, Khalid Abo El Naga, Dalia El Behairy and others.
In regard with the decline of the Egyptian television and its inability to compete with private channels, Abaza said the Egyptian TV is a state television, therefore, the development of the state will contribute to the development of its television
