Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki Tunis – AzharJarboui Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki in a meeting said he plans to implement the 116 presidential decree to organise the media sector to meet international standards. The decree provides for the creation of Independent High Audiovisual Communication Authority (IHACA). These meetings are the responsibility of the interim president who is allowed to appoint the head of IHACA after consulting experts. It was expected that Al Jazeera director Lotfi Hajji would be the Ennahda movement candidate. The 116 decree states that IHACA must be supervised by nine experience people who have integrity in their field. National Authority for the Reform of Media and Communication (INRIC) President Kamal al-Obaidi announced last July suspended the authority’s work because of government interference with their affairs, sources said. Security forces foiled attack on the headquarters of a private Tunisian television channel and arrested three masked men. No details about their backgrounds or motives were provided.
