KUNA deputy chief tours AFP headquarters sections Paris - Arab Today Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) is keen on benefiting the remarkable partnership with Agence France-Presse (AFP), the French news agency, to develop its news services and stay abreast of modern technology in the field of media, KUNA's Deputy Director General for Editorial Affairs Saad Al-Ali said on Wednesday. Al-Ali discussed with AFP senior officials during his visit to the agency's headquarters in Paris, means of developing media cooperation between both media institutions. KUNA is cooperating with AFP in various fields, including the training of cadres, technical coordination, and mutual visits between both agencies' officials. The Kuwaiti delegation was briefed about the developed editorial system (Iris) at AFP, which the agency installed a year ago at all of its departments and offices affiliated to it. Al-Ali discussed with AFP officials means of boosting bilateral cooperation, and means to establish a comprehensive system including new services to KUNA, for sake of making a major leap in the work of the agency. The delegation was also briefed about the work process in various departments of AFP during their visit to the agency's headquarters. KUNA signed a number of cooperation agreements with AFP, and the latest was in April of the year 2009 to implement a reserve system supportive of KUNA to ensure the continuity of its work without interruption. Al-Ali also visited KUNA office in Paris and was briefed on the workflow and needs of its employees, calling on them to exert all possible efforts to develop the services. Source: KUNA
