Naji Allush Amman - Arabstoday An acclaimed intellectual and prominent leader of the Palestinian cause, Naji Allush passed away in the Jordanian capital, Amman, at the venerable age of 77. The Palestinian icon was a leader in the Fatah movement and former member of the organisation\'s Revolutionary Council, leaving behind several literary works and treatises. Alloush suffered partial paralysis for more than 14 years, and was diagnosed with cancer last summer. Fatah, led by Palestinian president Naji Alloush, said in a statement: \"He was an Arab poet, researcher and national critic.\" Naji Ibrahim Salem Allush was born in Birzeit in 1935 and got his degree (Almetrek) from the Secondary Community College in Ramallah in 1955. After graduation he worked as a teacher in Fuheis in Jordan, and then traveled in 1956 to Kuwait to work in the pharmaceutical warehouses of the Ministry of Health and in the Kuwaiti newspaper “Adwaa Al Madina” until 1964. He then travelled to Beirut and worked from 1964 to 1969 in Dar El Taleiaa. In 1969 he went back to Amman and worked there until 1971 in the political and literary fields. In 1971 he travelled to Beirut until 1980. After that he left for Iraq and stayed there until 1981 before he travelled in the same year to Damascus to continue his political work after which he returned to Jordan to continue his political and literary work. \"Allush concentrated on studying contemporary Arab thought, and wrote his first book (The Arab Contemporary Revolutionary) in 1960\", added . The late leader was in Amman when he finally passed away.
