Bassam Al-Salehi Ramallah – Sona Adeek The Palestinian People’s Party said they wish to , “open its doors for an alliance with political powers and factions, as well as social powers interested in serving its people, not repeating slogans.\" The party\'s Secretary General al-Salehi told Arabstoday, “a leadership committee was formed to manage and follow the electoral process. It will work with social and political powers to form electoral programs and lists of candidates with the ability to bring change.” Al-Salehi claimed the People’s Party opposed the decision to postpone municipal elections and claimed it was the government\'s plan to deny Palestinians of their rights. Al-Salehi called Hamas in Gaza to end the siege of the Central Election Committee\'s work, and allow it to carry out its missions in all regions. He also called on Hamas to take part in these elections, as it’s a right and an obligation for every Palestinian citizen. On forming a unified left coalition in local elections, al-Salehi said this depends on the situation in municipal councils. “Every leftist organisation has its own conditions. The People’s Party seeks to form a broader coalition, but we must be certain of accurate representation for each faction.” The Palestinian Central Elections Committee opened candidate registration Saturday, for the municipal elections scheduled for October 20 in the West Bank. Registration will be open until September 10. The elections will only be held in the West Bank, as Hamas prevented its completion in Gaza due to what it calls, \"Fatah’s lack of commitment\", to the articles of Palestinian reconciliation through arresting Hamas members in the West Bank.
