Tahrir Square Cairo – Akram Ali Tahrir Square in Cairo witnessed a good surge of tourists yesterday. Visitors walked around the square, took pictures and dropped in to see the Egyptian Museum. Fathy Nour, Former Undersecretary of the Egyptian Minister of Tourism, said to Arabstoday: "The flood of tourists in Tahrir Square yesterday is an important indicator of the return of tourism and security to Egypt, especially after the renovations made by the Egyptian government last week - including clearing the square of thugs and illegal deeds.” He addressed the Ministry of Tourism calling for increasing the efforts to promote the Square by organising and preparing campaigns that show its new image after a year and a half of the revolution. Nour stresses that graffiti work in Tahrir is considered a high source of attraction to tourists which introduces the features and the memory of January 25 revolution. He pointed out that tourists gathered around there to see these paintings and took their pictures in front of them.
