Kelibia city witnesses great tourism renaissance
Tunis – Hayet al-Ghanami

Kelibia city is known for its historical landmarks and beautiful tourist attractions. The ancient citadel, the fishing port, the fish restaurants and the white beaches are the most prominent things in the city. The city is also characterized by its narrow streets and ancient buildings form the features of the ancient city, which was one of the most important cities of Tunisia. The diversity and harmony of the old architecture is very similar to the old cities in most parts of Tunisia.

In recent years, the city of Kelibia, in north-east of Tunisia, has emerged as one of the most important tourist destinations attracting Tunisians in particular. In a few years, it has become the first destination for Tunisian and even foreign tourists and presents itself as a serious competitor to Tunisia's major tourist capitals.

Kelibia was a constant witness to the various civilizations in Tunisia, and an attractive gateway for those coming from the north and the east. Its famous tower at the top of a rocky plateau was a testimony to the various civilizations in the city, which was called Clypia ,since the Phoenicians.

The city, located just 120 kilometers from the capital, overlooks the strait between Tunisia and Italy to be one of the closest points to the European coast, at a distance of only 200 kilometers.

Since the end of the nineties, this small and tranquil city has been known for major changes and unprecedented movement, where thousands of Tunisian tourists began to flock every summer to its virgin beaches, which were classified at the end of 2014 as one of the 35 most beautiful beaches in the world.

The number of tourists in this area has grown over the last ten years to reach 100,000 tourists during the peak season, according to the statistics of the National Tourism Bureau. The demand for Kelibia is no longer limited to Tunisians, but the city has become a destination for Algerian and European tourists after the spread of its reputation in recent years.

The authorities have begun to realize the value of this area and its potential that may make it an international tourist destination in the coming years. The Ministry of Tourism started to finance advertising campaigns and encouraging private investments in the city in the area of hotel and restaurant in particular.

These efforts culminated in the construction of a 3,000-bed tourist complex on an area of 50 hectares. It consists of three integrated tourist stations, consisting of three hotel units including a residential complex consisting of about 300 apartments, 140 luxury villas and three tourist revitalization centers. In addition to great facilities for young investors of the city especially for those wishing to invest in the fields of restaurants and tourist cafes.
