Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mohamed Mebarki, said Sunday that the year 2014 to 2015 will be that of deepening reforms in order to improve the quality of education.
"The aim is to reduce the leakages recorded earlier, open the socio-economic environment of the country and to be in line with international standards by improving the quality of education," said Mebarki on the national radio.
The minister who reported a number of planned actions, particularly focused on the need to correct the "leakages" identified in the implementation of reforms in the sector of higher education.
He stressed, in this regard, the Algerian university "must meet the needs of the socio-economic environment of the country and get involved actively in its development."
In this context, he emphasized on a quality education, "according to the set goals, stating the conditions are "not yet met" to conduct a "comprehensive review" of the LMD system.
Regarding infrastructure, the minister noted that all provinces of the country count universities and academic centers as part of the "democratization" of higher education, adding that this policy will be enhanced by a network of high schools that will be created countrywide.
