Sharjah - Arab Today

Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah and President of the American University of Sharjah (AUS) welcomed Dan Brown, award-winning author of numerous bestselling novels, and John Ingram, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Ingram Content Group, to his office at the university yesterday.
Sheikh Sultan spoke about AUS' journey and its role in preparing an enlightened generation of youth.
"Democracy and enlightenment cannot be achieved by force but through education which is the key to the nation's development," he said.
He added that Al Qasimia University and other educational institutions play a crucial role in spreading awareness among youth in the Islamic world about the evils of extremism and promoting the tolerant teachings of Islam.
After meeting with His Highness in his office, Brown and Ingram were taken around the university library, stopping on the way to speak with some students on campus.
"With deep respect and admiration. With education all things are possible," signed Brown in the AUS guestbook.
