Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark Diocese said Monday that education is key to a successful society and change.
The church is a spiritual institution that acts to spread peace with God, with the Other and with self, the pope said in a meeting with a group of youth at the theater of the Sports Ministry Monday.
He made it clear that psychological disorders can develop into conflicts, stressing that that three-way peace concept can help man confront any violence.
Ever since its establishment, the Egyptian church has never been under occupation and has known nothing about politics, Tawadros said. The homeland has always come first and above everything, he added.
Relations between Muslims and Copts date 14 centuries back, the pope said.
Today's meeting was co-organized by the Sports Ministry and the youth committee at the Egyptian Family House.
It is meant to exchange points of view regarding Egypt's economic future and efforts to counter terrorism through correcting misconceptions and social and spiritual development.
The meeting is part of the second phase of a training and enlightenment program meant to hone young leaders to promote concepts of the Egyptian Family House that are based on national unity and dialogue.
