Caroline Rush, CEO of the BFC London - Arabstoday The British Fashion Council today announced the appointment of Louise Carter to the newly created role of Head of Development. Over the past two years the British Fashion Council has developed its promotional programme and support for British designer businesses to year round activity.  The organisation aims to continue to strengthen its cornerstone projects London Fashion Week and the British Fashion Awards as well as developing its existing initiatives alongside new opportunities to promote British designer fashion in both the UK and key international markets, as Head of Development, Louise will play a key role in achieving these objectives. Caroline Rush, CEO commented “This role was created with Louise in mind, enabling her to focus on scoping scale and opportunity of new projects such as London Pre with thorough industry engagement, developing a programme of events through 2012, whilst continuing to take a lead role in ensuring quality and the creative delivery of the existing events programme including London Fashion Week and the British Fashion Awards”. Louise has worked for the British Fashion Council since 2006, first as a consultant then as Special Projects manager and latterly working as Head of Events with responsibility for London Fashion Week, the British Fashion Awards and developing the events programme.  In this role Louise has proven her ability to help shape new challenges, developing the creative layout and environment of London Fashion Week at Somerset House as well as leading the team responsible for negotiating and creating the show schedule. The British Fashion Council appointed its first full time management team in 2009 to deliver its 25th anniversary celebrations and a legacy programme to enhance ongoing support and promotion for British designers businesses.   Over the past few years the organisation, under the guidance of Chairman Harold Tillman CBE, has developed the BFC/ELLE Talent Launchpad,  The BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund, The BFC/Bazaar Fashion Arts Foundation, Men’s Day at London Fashion Week, an international programme of London show Rooms, a newly formed Buyers Advisory Committee, London Pre and an Ambassador programme through the appointment of Sarah Mower, Ambassador of Emerging Talent and Samantha Cameron as Ambassador for British Fashion and the newly created China Britain Fashion Alliance. The British Fashion Council has brought key functions such as PR, Marketing, Sponsorship, Event Management in house and has established a business support function to deliver business support for those within the BFC designer support schemes.  In addition to this the BFC is supported by consultants with expertise in global retail and media strategies as well as advisory panels of industry experts to assist in talent selection and development of promotional opportunities for British designer businesses to a global market.
