Cornejo RTW Spring 2014 London - Arab Today The exotic power women of Maria Cornejo’s terrific spring collection were the product of several ideas. The desert, ancient civilizations and a mirror exhibition she saw at the Palais de Tokyo all factored into the lineup, which touched on a few different attitudes — citified, glamorous, minimalist bohemian — all unified under a modern tribal sensibility that belonged distinctly to the tribe of Cornejo. Opening with a series of dune-colored, sculpted looks that tempered curvy tailoring with fluid draping, the clothes moved into graphic mirror-printed silks and metallics. Cornejo was feeling an elongated silhouette, often layering dresses over pants and showing cutaway tops over shorts. A bronze, midriff-bearing crisscross top that trailed off over cargo shorts was chicly sexy, while a fresh group of black-and-white striped, textured cotton tunics and robes channeled an earthy, laid-back edge.
