Russian President Vladimir Putin was given a red-carpet reception at Qubba presidential palace on Monday before the start of the Egyptian-Russian talks.
The two presidents reviewed the honorary guard and the military band played the national anthems of the two countries.
Horses accompanied the convoy of Putin and helicopters hovered over the palace upon his arrival.
The palace was decorated with red, white and blue roses, representing the colors of the Russian flag.
Twenty-one shots were fired in the air upon the entrance of Putin's convoy to the palace.
A number of school children carrying the Egyptian and Russian flags welcomed the guest upon his arrival at the palace doors.
