Bireh has bid farewell in an official and popular funeral its martyr son Haykal Moussallem who passed away in the terrorist Istanbul attack on New Year's Eve.
Funeral prayers for Moussallem's soul were led by Bishop Boulos Matar representing Marointe Patriarch Beshara Rai.
Minister Ghattas Khoury represented President Michel Aoun, PM Saad Hariri and Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri and in the presence of a number of MPs and ministers at Heart of Jesus Church in Bireh.
In his delivered sermon, Matar stressed "Martyr Haykal has become a symbol of resistance of life in face of death," recalling the invitation of His Holiness Pope in New Year "to face violence with non-violence."
