Spokesman of Foreign Ministry Bahram Qasemi on Thursday condemned recent terrorist attack outside the British Parliament in London.
At least five people were killed and 40 others were wounded outside the British Parliament in London on Wednesday after an assailant plowed a car into pedestrians and stabbed a police officer, an incident that Metropolitan Police declared a terrorist incident, according to IRNA News Agency on Thursday.
Qasemi expressed his sympathy with the bereaved families of the victims.
He reiterated Tehran’s determination to fight against extremism and violence with the aim of uprooting terrorism.
Qasemi underlined that the Islamic Republic of Iran invites all countries to form a coalition and foster cooperation aimed at tackling terrorism.
“As a forerunner in the fight against terrorism, Iran believes that as long as we are witnessing formation of ineffective coalitions, inefficient and show-off measures and West's double-standard policies on anti-terror fight at the international and regional levels, no country could consider itself immune to the threat of terrorism,” the spokesman said.
He added that terrorism is not limited to geographical boundaries.
In order to address the root causes of this ominous and hateful phenomenon the shipment of weapons for terrorists should be halted and the moral and material support to the countries and groups promoting Takfiri terrorist ideas should be prevented.
