US President Barack Obama has contacted top German and Spanish leaders expressing solace and solidarity in the wake of the German passenger plane deadly crash in the Alps.
President Obama spoke with Chancellor Merkel of Germany concerning the crash of Germanwings flight 9525, the White House announced, late on Tuesday. He "expressed his condolences and those of the American people for the tragic loss of life, including the loss of many schoolchildren." The President offered Merkel full assistance of American officials in responding to the tragedy, the statement said.
The Airbus A320 went down with 150 people on board in a snowy, remote section of the French Alps. Obama has called Spanish President Rajoy and conveyed his condolences in the wake of the crash of Germanwings flight 9525, the White House announced. "The President conveyed his condolences and those of the American people to Spain and to the families of those lost on the flight." He offered Rajoy "the full assistance of American officials as needed to respond to this tragedy."
