Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has strongly condemned the suspected mass terror attack after a lorry ploughed into a busy Christmas market in Berlin, Germany.
A lorry ploughed into a crowd at a Christmas market in Berlin on Monday night, killing 12 people and injuring nearly 50 others.
"On behalf of the people and government of Pakistan, the prime minister extended his heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Germany on the loss of precious human lives in the attack," the prime minister office said Tuesday.
He said Pakistani people share the grief of German people and stand by them, in this most painful time.
"Terrorism is our common enemy and the world needs to put up a joint fight against this menace. Pakistan itself has suffered great losses of lives and property by terrorism and would continue to ensure all measures for its eradication," Nawaz Sharif said.
The truck drove over the sideway at Breitscheidplatz, a major public square near the location of the iconic Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, in the inner city of Berlin, the police tweeted.
