Scholars in Yemen condemn Houthis for firing missile at Mecca

Scholars in Yemen have strongly condemned the Houthi militias in Yemen for firing a ballistic missile targeting the holy city of Mecca on Thursday. 

The clerics said in a statement on Saturday that this heinous crime reflects the rebel gang's disregard of blood of Muslims and their holy places. 

The statement, quoted by Yemen News Agency (Saba), called on Muslim scholars, leaders and officials to denounce this crime and adopt a serious stance against any attempt which is aimed at destroying the nation and its identity. 

The statement also urged Yemeni people to join hands to confront this coup which would have destructive impact on Yemen and neighboring countries.

The statement hailed the support of Arab coalition countries including Saudi Arabia for Yemen in its plight.
