UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon condemns the 14 July terrorist attack in Nice, France.
The Secretary-General hopes that all those responsible for this massacre will be rapidly identified and brought to justice. He stands firmly by the French Government and people as they confront this threat and stresses the need to intensify regional and international efforts to combat terrorism and violent extremism.
He expresses his deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims of this horrific act, as well as to the Government and the people of France. He wishes a speedy recovery to those injured.
According to the reports, at least 84 people including children were killed and dozens injured when the attacker drove a truck through a crowd watching a fireworks display to mark the holiday.
