United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has condemned Friday's bomb attack on a night market in Davao City in the Philippines that killed and injured dozens, his spokesman said Sunday.
"The Secretary-General stresses the need to ensure accountability and to bring to justice the perpetrators of these terrorist attacks," the spokesman added in a statement.
In a similar statement, the members of the UN Security Council reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security." They underlined the need to bring perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism to justice, the statement added.
Members of the Security Council also urged all countries, in accordance with their obligations under international law and relevant Security Council resolutions, to the cooperation with the Government of the Philippines and all other relevant authorities in this regard.
On Saturday, Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte declared the nation in lawlessness after 14 people were killed and over 60 were injured in the attack.
