Men gather on remains of destroyed building in Idlib Damascus - Arab Today Since the onset of the Syrian civil war in March 2011, 284 health workers were reported to have died during clashes between the forces of the Syrian regime and opposition. Issuing a written statement, the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) said 143 doctors, 54 pharmacists and 87 health workers had lost their lives since March 2011. Meanwhile, 3,000 health workers were detained, according to the statement which added that the detained health workers included 600 doctors, 18 of whom were tortured to death.
