Dr Tarek Adnan Cairo – Dalia Ahmad A new vaccine against sepsis has been invented by an Egyptian researcher. Dr Tarek Adnan invented a first of its kind vaccine to fight a very common killer. He said to Arabstoday: “The number of deaths from sepsis has increased lately, which is why I tried to find a solution to the problem. This is an important medical achievement, as this plague affected cancer patients, babies, pregnant women, HIV sufferers etc.” The Alexandrian researcher registered his new vaccine and obtained an Egyptian patent for it. He said: “Studying blood poisoning is difficult as the infection doesn’t grow in cultures in some cases, only in the patient’s body. The bacteria causing the infection are present in the digestive system and are totally harmless as long as they don’t reach the blood. Dr Tarek Adnan’s discovery has been warmly welcome in the scientific community.
