Culture Minister Nadia Labidi stressed Sunday the necessity to "recover Algerian filmographic memory" which has been in Italian laboratories for many years, as it is a "precious and very important national heritage."
"It is very important to recover this filmographic memory which is very precious to Algeria," Labidi said at a meeting with an Italian expert at Mofdi Zakaria Palace of Culture.
The ministry of Culture has "developed a strategy for the filing of the Algerian films available in Italian laboratories, especially the Micro Stampa Laboratory."
The strategy "requires that we get in direct touch with the laboratory, especially as the storage of the films is increasingly costly," she underlined.
The strategy "lies on providing training, in Italy, to young Algerian graduates in filing and relevant computer and digital technology, while making the necessary arrangements in Algerian laboratories for the transportation, storage and digitization of such sensitive filmographic material.
