Egypt's Mufti Shawki Allam said that confronting extremist thought requires international cooperation and unity in order to face such ideas, which pose a threat to the whole world.
The European youths are not far from this danger, he said, adding that recently-issued reports showed that more than 1,000 Dutch youths joined Daesh terrorist group along with youths from a number of European countries.
Allam's remarks came during his meeting Sunday with Dutch Ambassador to Egypt Gerard Steeghs and Coordinator for Public Diplomacy in the Middle East Baukje Dijkstra.
Talking about his recent European tour, Allam said that his recent visit to the Netherlands and France was successful.
Islam should not be linked to terrorism, he said, adding that all heavenly religions came to improve the people's lives.
