Mufti of Al Quds and Palestinian Territories Mohamed Hussein on Wednesday said that storming Al Aqsa Mosque by Israeli settlers earlier in the day and their provocative touring of its grounds under the protection of Israeli police is a flagrant violation of the Muslims' feelings and creed.
In statements to MENA, he added that the Mosque is for Islamic rituals only and nobody else has the right to practice any other rites inside.
The move on the part of the Israeli settlers is part of an Israeli campaign against sanctuaries and attempts to impose a fait accompli inside the mosque, he said, adding that this is an aggression against Muslims' creed.
He held Israeli authorities responsible for all the consequences of these practices that will eventually escalate tension in the region and would lead the region, if not the whole world, to an internecine war.
He urged the Arab and Islamic countries to shoulder their responsibility towards Al Aqsa Mosque and other sanctuaries in the Palestinian territories.
