Jenny McCarthy debuted her radio show Dirty Sexy Funny earlier this week.
The 41-year-old television personality discusses sex, dating and more on the new Sirius XM program. She also co-hosts television talk show The View, but will leave the series after her contract expires in August.
McCarthy and fellow View host Sherri Shepherd shocked audiences when they announced their intent to leave in June. The former Playboy model explained her choice to Access Hollywood in an interview published Tuesday.
"I was brought on [in September 2013] to change The View's perspective and make it lighter and more pop culture fun," she said. "It was very polarizing, the audience thought, and very political. And it kind of drove people away."
"Midway through the season they realized they needed to replace Barbara [Walters after she retired]," she continued. "In order to fill those kind of shoes you need to bring a heavy lifter in. The idea was talked about around that time that Rosie might be coming back. And it's just obvious after being a part of the table they want more conflict and debate."
McCarthy asserted the decision "was mutual" and "very peaceful," with "no reason for either of our sides to end abruptly." She is pleased to be "100 percent" herself "without interruption" on Dirty Sexy Funny.
"The idea of having the microphone and being able to say whatever -- I want that kind of freedom," she shared. "The only analogy I can give is me going to Catholic school all my life and then when I went to college. That [kind of] freedom. I went nuts!"
Dirty Sexy Funny premiered July 16, and airs Wednesdays on Sirius XM Stars at 6 p.m. ET.
