Algiers - Agencies The director-general of the Algerian Space Agency (ASAL), Azzeddine Oussedik, announced late Monday in Oran the launch of satellites as part of \"Arab and African satellite constellations\". Revealing the programme to develop ASAL\'s space activity to members of the Executive Council of Arab Ministers of Information and Communication Technologies Technology (ICT) who visited the Satellites Development Centre (CDS) of Oran, Oussedik said the project was part of strengthening and promoting Arab and African cooperation in the field. The cooperation also aims to create a beneficial partnership in line with international conventions and treaties on space, particularly with regard to the recommendations of the UN Committee for the Peaceful Use of Outer Space. The Algerian Space Agency also said it aims to be attuned to sustainable national development in different social, economic and scientific areas, preparing to launch a group of small and medium satellites of 1000kgs. In addition to the satellite project \"Alsat 2 B\" announced at CDS Oran to be launched before the end of 2013, the agency has scheduled the launch a series of satellites called \"Alsat 4\" with cutting edge technology, in addition to the communications satellite \"Alsatcom\" that will achieve strategic objectives in broadcasting, the development of digital photography and the use of mobile and fixed phones.
