Algeria enjoys ‘great support’ at the WTO Algiers - Hocine Bousalah Algeria has made significant progress during 11th-round negotiations at a World Trade Organisation (WTO) summit in Geneva, according to Trade Minister Mustapha Benbada. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a WTO meeting on food security, Benbada suggested Algeria was enjoying “great support” from several countries, particularly from Asia and Latin America. “These countries support Algeria’s entrance to the WTO,” he said. “Algeria has presented substantial and detailed files compared to the previous rounds," the minister claimed, adding his delegates had presented WTO officials with 12 documents relating to the application. WTO member states will address questions to Algerian delegates before May 10, with the North Africa country obliged to reply before July 15 at the latest. Another round of negotiations may be held next autumn, Benbada stated.
