Al Shahaniya took on Al Ahli in round 23 of the Qatar Stars League (QSL) at the Al Arabi Stadium on Friday. The five goal thriller ended in favour of Al Ahli after they edged Shahania by a goal to win 3-2.
Al Ahli's captain dependable Meshal Abdulla scored from the spot in the twenty secod minute of the game to give his side the lead. The Qatari blasted the ball into the left side of the net and sent Shahania keeper, Jasem Al Hail, the wrong way. The first half ended with the Brigadiers a goal to the good.
In the second half, Yassine Chikhaoui doubled Al Ahli's lead. After a swerving free kick by Ali Qadry was pegged back from the by-line, the Tunisian got on the end of it and sent the ball into the net with an improvised shot in the fifty eighth minute.
In the seventy first minute, Al Shahaniya reduced their opponents lead by scoring a goal of their own. Mohammed Sayar got his name on the score sheet after received the ball on the edge of the box and then hit a low shot straight into the goal past Al Ahli keeper, Amer Al Dossary.
Justs four minutes later Al Ahli goal machine Ali Farydon scored a spectacular goal to make it 3-1. The Kuwaiti forward smashed the ball from about 15 yards out and the ball looped over the keeper and into the goal. The jubilant celebration which followed the goal and the despair on the faces of the Shahaniya players was a perfect summary for the game.
Late on in the ninety first minute, the Oryxes were gifted a goal to make it 3-2. The goal came after a massive error by Al Ahli Keeper Amer Al Dossary who failed to meet a back pass from team mate Meshal Budawood and let the ball slip into the net. The veteran keeper was lucky that the match ended soon after with his team collecting all three points.
The win takes Al Ahli to twenty seven points, while Igor Stimac's men are left in the drop zone with seventeen points.
