A Federico Macheda brace helped Premier League champions Manchester United canter to a 4-1 win over New England Revolution, as big money new signing Ashley Young made his debut. The Red Devils on Wednesday seized control of the friendly with three goals in 10 second devastating half minutes as they launched their US exhibition tour in rousing style. Michael Owen and Korean Park Ji-Sung also scored for United who started just four players from the side that lined-up for the Champions League final against Barcelona. Young made his United debut after joining the Red Devils from Aston Villa last month for a reported $27 million, while Wayne Rooney came on for the second half. But it was playmaker Michael Carrick who caught the eye, setting up two goals to remind his critics that despite a mixed season last year he retains a sparkling passing range. Carrick, the supply line on the night, set up Macheda and Owen with clever passes, the second allowing Owen to fire a low shot beyond the New England goalkeeper. Macheda scored again in the 61st minute, converting a pass from Rafael that fizzed across the goal mouth. Gabriel Obertan did all the hard work in setting up the fourth United goal, tying New England defender Zak Boggs in knots with some nifty footwork, before passing to Ryan Giggs who fed Park for a late chip over the New England keeper. Kenny Mansally scored the lone goal for New England. The Revolution are in last place in the Major League Soccer Eastern Conference standings.
