Argentinian winger Ricardo Centurion scored either side of halftime as Sao Paulo routed Mexico's Toluca 4-0 in their Copa Libertadores round of 16 first leg on Thursday.
Former Brazil international midfielder Michel Bastos opened the scoring just before the half-hour mark at Sao Paulo's Morumbi stadium and Centurion doubled his team's lead on the stroke of halftime.
Thiago Mendes netted Sao Paulo's third goal just after the restart before Centurion made it 4-0 in the 61st minute.
In Asuncion, former Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus forward Carlos Tevez was on target in Boca Juniors' 2-1 over Cerro Porteno.
Uruguay international midfielder Nicolas Lodeiro also netted for the visitors before Cecilio Dominguez pulled a goal back for the Paraguayan outfit six minutes from time.
In Thursday's only other match, defending champions River Plate lost 2-0 to Independiente del Valle in the Ecuadorian capital Quito.
