Champion racing driver Ahmad Al Harthy proudly received the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Pro-Am1 winner\'s trophy on Saturday after returning to the UK for the annual championship awards evening at Whittlebury Hall near Silverstone. Taking 12 Pro-Am 1 victories and 17 podiums in total from the championship\'s 20 races Ahmad was a star performer season-long. \"It\'s nice to finally get my hands on the big trophy, and what a fantastic trophy it is!-, said the 31-year-old, \"We worked so, so hard this year to win the championship and I honestly couldn\'t have asked for more from the guys at Redline Racing who run the Oman Air Racing Team. Most importantly for Ahmad, his title success marked the first ever for an Omani driver at such a high level of motor racing and he also entered the history books as the first person of Arab origin to win a championship in a series the stature of Porsche Carrera Cup GB. In addition to collecting his champion\'s trophy, Ahmad also received the keys to a stunning brand new Porsche 911 Carrera 2 roadcar which he has sole use of for the coming year as Porsche Carrera Cup GB Pro-Am 1 Champion. \"It\'s an amazing car -“ just a little bit more luxurious inside than my race car!-, said the Omani.
