Veterinary examinations for Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF) National Day Endurance Championship will take place at 3pm today. The examinations will be conducted by approved veterinarians of BREEF and the International Federation for Equestrian sports (Fédération Equestre Internationale, FEI). The race will kick off tomorrow at 6pm with the participation of the best riders of Bahrain Royal Endurance Team and local stables. Bahrain Royal Endurance Team Director Dr. Khalid Hassan stated that the team is all set for the 120-km race. He explained that team members have been training hard and preparing for the race, following the command and directives of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport Chairman, Bahrain Olympic Committee President, Royal Charity Organisation (RCO) Chairman and BREEF Honorary Chairman HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa. Dr. Hassan expressed that the race will witness tough competition due to the performance seen of the participating teams in the beginning of the season. He also praised HH Shaikh Nasser’s support and patronage of local stables and equestrian championships. BREEF Itinerary Committee Head Khalifa Al Rumaihi that preparations are ongoing for the race, following the directives of the Honorary Chairman and the follow-up of BREEF Chairman Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa. Mr. Al Rumaihi explained that the championship will include three races, each divided onto five stages. He also confirmed that the route of the race is ready and prepared for tomorrow. Bahrain Royal Endurance Team Rider Ja’affar Mirza and Local Stable ‘Hawar’ Rider Jameel Ramadan assured the tough competition expected in the race. Both riders asserted that weather conditions will play a big role in the results of the race, saying that a calm weather will contribute in achieving high speed averages. The riders appreciated the support and efforts of HH Shaikh Nasser, BREEF Chairman and the organising committee. Grandson of United Arab Emirates (UAE) President, son of Emirates Equestrian Federation (EFF) Chairman Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, who is one of the best riders among regional and international riders will take part in the championship. His participation was welcomed by HH Shaikh Nasser, who stated that having such a reputed rider in the championship will sure add to events of the races, wishing him all the best in the competition.
