An 8.4-kilometre cycling and running track has opened in the Dh35 billion Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City, District One development.
More than 50 cyclists and joggers came out to test out the track, which runs around the upcoming residential area that lies 4km from Burj Khalifa.
The tracks are lit by solar powered lights for minimal energy consumption and feature several rest areas.
“The launch of the District One Cycling and Running track is a significant milestone for Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City’s District One,” said Saeed Al Tayer, chairman and chief executive of Meydan Group.
“We are incredibly proud of the progress we have made so far. The launch is testament to our support of the local community and commitment to promoting an active and healthy lifestyle.”
The district will eventually include parks, beaches and a 7km of lagoons. Phase 1 of the project will be ready for handover mid-2016.
