Cycling enthusiasts have continued their preparations for this year's Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge by turning out in the hundreds this morning for the second of four build up rides ahead of the big day on December 12th.
Numbers were up on the first build-up ride, as the excitement mounts for the biggest and most popular community cycling event in the Middle East. Nearly 420 riders turned up for the first build-up ride held over 35km in September and this morning close to 500 cyclists were up bright and early to cycle 45 kilometres at the Nad Al Sheba cycle track.
The Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge started in 2010, and now attracts cycling enthusiasts from all over the world. This year more than 2,000 riders are expected to enter - four times more than took part when the event was launched.
"The build-up rides are a great way to prepare for the event, as they are a great way to test your fitness and to practice riding in a group. The wonderful community atmosphere also motivates people to train for the event" organisers said yesterday. "The event and the build-up rides are all about promoting cycling in Dubai, and giving people a safe and supportive environment to enjoy cycling".
The build-up rides increase in distance each time in preparation for the full 92 km race on December 12th. The next two build-up rides will be held at the Dubai Cycling Course, with the third ride on 31st October on a 65 km course, and the final one on 28th November over 85km.
All the details about the next build-up ride and the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge are on their official Facebook page.
