Ahly right winger Ahmed Fathi congratulated his club and its fans for winning the eighth successive league dedicating the victory to 'martyrs'.
"Congratulations to Ahly club and its great fans for this league. We were determined to win to dedicate the win to our precious martyrs," Ahmed Fathi stated on twitter Tuesday.
The Cairo-based club lifted their 37th Egyptian Premier League trophy Monday being the leader of the mini-league phase of the extra-ordinary edition, after a goalless draw with Alexandrian club Smouha at Cairo stadium.
The competition that held behind closed doors has been completed after two successive canceled championships due to security concerns.
On 1 February 2012, 72 Ahly fans died in Port Said stadium following clashes with rival fans Masry after a league game.
The 30-year-old, Fathi, who witnessed the disaster, played a key role in Ahly's triumph who finished leader of Group A with 40 points, five before Smouha who are the mini-league's runner-ups too with goal differences.
