Hamed Al Wahaibi and co-driver StephenMcAuley driving a Mitsubishi Evolution 10 won the second leg of third round of Oman Rally Championship 2012 organised by the Oman Automobile Association with support from Royal Oman Police, Ministry of Sport Affairs and Ministry of Tourism yesterday. The rally was sponsored by Target LLC, Al Diyar Hotal Nizwa, Al Qabaas Printing Press and Al Watan kicked off on Thursday at Nizwa Sprots Complex. The rally was officially flagged off by Tariq Yousuf Al Shammas, acting general manager of Target LLC. The Super Special Stage was held near the crusher, Birkat Al Mouz and Hay Aturath. The total distance covered was 203km of which 119.70km were Special Stages and 83.3km were Road Section. All Stages were covered totally nine times and in which the rally champion Hamed was the fastest. He was followed by Khalid Soomar Al Zadjali and Khalil Soomar Al Zadjali. The prize distribution ceremony was held at Nizwa Sports Complex under the patronage of Khalfan Saleh Al Naibi, advisor Ministry of Sports Affairs, in the presence of Brigadier Salim Ali Khalifa Al Maskiry, chairman of Oman Automobile Association. The rally emphasised on road safety and the importance for safe driving. A total of 11 teams participated in the event of which four teams retired due to various reasons.
