Former Zamalek playmaker Hazem Emam on Monday said he officially refused an offer to be appointed as general manager of the club's first team.
Zamalek dismissed Brazilian coach Marcos Paqueta Sunday after only five matches in charge and swiftly appointed Ahmed Hossam 'Mido' as his successor.
Mido chose Emam to be Zamalek's football director, but the club president clung to Ismail Youssef's remaining in his post and suggested to appoint Emam as a general manager.
Emam spent most of his career as an attacking midfielder for Zamalek SC. He is one of the most talented players in the history of Egyptian football and one of the most popular players ever in the Middle East.
