Kuwait's national Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) team will head to Dubai and Croatia to partake in tournaments held there, said an official here Wednesday.
Member of the Martial Arts Committee of Kuwait Olympic Committee, Fouzan Al-Sabej, told KUNA that six BJJ team members will be heading to Dubai while two others will be leaving for Croatia.
Al-Sabej said the Kuwaiti national team was formed after the conclusion Kuwait's BJJ tournament in August.
BJJ is a grappling martial arts with origins tracing back to Japanese Jujitsu. The main focus of this martial art is to perform submission holds or chokes to win over the opponent.
Most practitioners of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) who are competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and other tournaments train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to develop their ground fighting and grappling techniques.
