As directed by the Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport and Bahrain Olympic Committee President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Southern Governorate launched HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa Weekly Best Camp Award on Thursday, to continue until the 2nd of February. Southern Governor and Head of the Supreme Camping Season Committee Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa hailed the auspices of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, appreciating his recent visit to the camping area in Sakhir, where he personally met the citizens and was ensured about campers’ safety. During a press conference held on the occasion of launching the award, the governor explained that a committee was formed to elect the winners in accordance to the preset standards of fairness and transparency. He added that the award is addressed only to individuals and families camps. The conference was attended by Deputy Governor and Committee Head Faisal bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Director of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa Media and Information Centre Tawfeeq Al Salehy and Head of the Camper Service Centre Engineer Mohammed Al Sisi. Mr. Al Nuaimi stated that campers should visit the service centre to register their camps and to be briefed about the competitors’ criteria and conditions to participate in the contest. On his part, Mr. Al Salehy assured that the committee coordinated with local media to cover events of the contest, aiming to highlight the noble causes promoted by organising the award, such as campers and environment safety. In conclusion, Mr. Al Sisi revealed that each week, a winner will be awarded with BD 1000, besides 6 winners to be awarded on the last week of the contest with BD 500. “10 approved judges will supervise the judging process,” he added.
