Rotterdam - UPI

Roger Federer defeated Juan Martin del Potro in straight sets Sunday in winning the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament title for a second time. Federer, No. 3 in the world, fought off all seven of the break points he faced in a 6-1, 6-4 win over del Potro. Federer previously won in Rotterdam in 2005. It was the 71st ATP tournament title for Federer, who is fourth on the all-time championships list. It marks a 12th consecutive year in which he\'s won at least one tournament, tying him for third on that list -- two behind all-time leader Ivan Lendl. Federer is 9-2 versus del Potro. Both of del Potro\'s wins in the series came in 2009 and include a five-set victory in the final of the U.S. Open. Sunday\'s pairing was nowhere near as close. Federer won the first five games of the match -- cashing in both break opportunities -- and served out for the set. Federer got a break in the fifth game of the second set while del Porto was unable to convert any of his five chances in the set. Federer picked up about $380,000 for the win, which pushed him over the $68 million mark for his career. That is the most in ATP history and about $22 million more than Rafael Nadal, who is second on the list.
